There is nothing worse than going around feeling, "less than!" Whether it be:
Less than a mother
Less than a wife
Less than a friend
Less than an employee
Less than a grandma,
Blah, blah, blah ......
These uchy feelings can make us want to sink into the ground, and disappear.
Women are quicker to feel shame and guilt than men. Adolescents are much more prone than adults. One of the terms for adolescents' propensity to feel shame and guilt is "tunnel vision". They struggle with not being able to see the whole picture. This is one reason that adolescents' have a high suicide rate.
Remember when parents used to say, "Aren't you ashamed?" It reminds me of the Scarlet Letter, with the Big A on her chest!!!
For so many people, choosing that negative thinking can result in a direct negative spiral that results in a meloncholy , depressed mood. For some folks, it is a constant battle. It is so important to remember to forgive ourselves, be constantly alert or "on lookout" for our negative thinking. When it comes to self defeating attitudes, people with chronic illnesses can be sitting ducks!!
One of the most useful tools is reframing as we know!!!
I am doing the best that I can do!!!
Nobody is perfect!!!
I love my family! I just can't do what I used to do.
Chronic illness is just so difficult when it comes to maintaining a positive attitude and outlook!
From Me to U!!!!!!
Hang in there!
