I was 28 years old when our first son was born. I had a perfect pregnancy, and we were so excited to meet him! We could not wait to bring him home. But soon after we arrived home, I began to feel anxious, which then resulted in insomnia. I began to feel very depressed. The cycle continued without sleep. The baby was a great sleeper!! Finally, my husband took me to see the doctor. I felt so ashamed! I was hospitalized, and started taking an antidepressant. I slowly began to feel better, and sleep. I started seeing a counselor, and she helped tremendously. I believe that the Post Partum Depression kind of laid the groundwork for fibromyalgia. We all experience stress at times. It is the feeling when the body may go into it's "fight or flight" response.

What about you? What do you believe were the causes of your autoimmune disease or diseases?

One of our members shared that she experienced physical injuries earlier in her life. Another, shared that she went thru a tumultuous divorce. Another talks about her genetic propensity to develop fibromyalgia and other similar illnesses.

Trauma such as domestic violence can be a cause.

One member shared that she had cancer and treatment. But after all that, she developed Fibromyalgia!

It is really sad that more children are beginning to experience fibro ... I feel so sad when I am at the Rheumatologist office to receive an infusion, and there are teenagers in the clinic!!! That is so unfair!!!!!!

I was so lucky to have such a supportive husband, family, fantastic

Obstetrician, counselor, etc to help at that frightening time!

God is so good!!!!
