Things That A Person Should Not Say To Someone With Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome!!!

According to Adrienne Dello, it can be difficult for people to deal with chronic illness/chronic pain, and what to say to that person. Other people may want to appear understanding, sympathetic or helpful, instead they may end up hurting the feelings of the sick individual. Certain phrases drive us up the wall! Words can be said with the greatest of intentions, but they lack a true understanding of this chronic, invisible disease.

Some of the things might sound like they are really overly sensitive! That would be me unfortunately. and really does a number on someone's self esteem! Someone who has to give up activities, especially a loved job/profession, may be deeply wounded by, and feel a lot of guilt, over their limitation.

Read the five things that should be avoided to someone with one of the "invisible" illnesses:

?1) You look great, you must be feeling better! Looks can be deceiving, right! It might be that we are becoming better at concealing how we feel! Or have had one good day after a month of horrible days!!! It's not a judgement to truly want to learn how someone is doing Simple questions, such as, " How are you doing today?" "How are you feeling, I have been thinking about you."

2) Let's get you out of the house, it'll give you a boost.

Believe me, most chronically ill people would love to do that. If we are home all the time, we are probably not feeling very well. Even this question can add stress. And my experience has been to feel even more guilt.

3) Are you sure that you are not just feeling depressed? Did you know that some research shows that the broad range of symptoms, can be several dozen?!!!! This comment discounts the validity of our physiological ailments. The article insinuates that depression is not a real and serious illness! ( "just depressed" is never appropriate.")

4) I know how you feel; I get tired too. A better statement would be, "I've been really tired lately. I do not know how you do it!

5) If you would (exercise more/lose weight/eat a better diet) (Get back to work!) Oh my gosh!!!!!! Did I hear that correctly?!!!! Need I say more?!!!

While exercise and diet help, duhhhhhhhhhh, some people actually may feel worse. That happened to me in physical therapy! But once I mentioned it to the physical therapist, she cut back the exercise regime and my fibro symptoms decreased. But of course, silly me still felt like a quitter! LAZY!!!!!!!

Losing weight is extremely difficult for people that cannot be very active, and definitely affects the self esteem.

From Me to U!

Be kind to yourself.

God loves you!

Oh ,Sally! I hate these the most! Not the people who say these things but, sometimes, I wish they had to walk (painfully) in my shoes for just one twenty four hours! God forgive me for thinking that way🙏🙏🙏
