Grief, What Do I Do or What Do I Say!

I have to admit that I have always struggled with what to do or what to say in cases of loss/grief.

Here are some suggested ideas:

  1. Just help. Don't ask what you could do. Just pitch in. If you see your friend needs paper goods, run to the grocery store. Or just start washing dishes.

  2. Do not ask for details. A person dealing with grief/loss may not want to share any details period. Just meet them where they are.

  3. Agree with the pain. Or just say, "I am so sorry." Your being present with your friend or loved one is all that is necessary.
